Getting there
A number of airlines offer regular flights to Nassau. The flight from Frankfurt to Nassau takes around 10 hours.
Immigration regulations
A passport is required for stays of up to 90 days, minimum period of validity 6 months beyond the stay.
Copy documents
You should make copies of your passport and your driver‘s licence before your holiday and keep the copies separate from the originals. This is most helpful in case of reporting a loss and requiring new documents.
Import regulations
Larger sums of money (more than 10,000 dollars) can only be imported with prior permission of the »Central Bank of the Bahamas«. It is not permitted to import Bahamas dollar!
Export
max 70 Bahamas dollar. It is permitted to import foreign currencies. Agricultural products may only be imported in limited quantities. Duty Free: The followed items may be imported to the Bahamas:
- 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 454 g of tobacco (People above the age of 18 years)
- 0.94 l spirits (people above the age of 18 years)
- 0.94 l wine (people above the age of 18 years)
- other items up to a value of 100 US dollars
- Household articles such as small electrical items are subject to customs duty at 45% of their value. Laptop computers are seen as personal possessions and are therefore not subject to customs duty.
Voltage
Alternating current 120 volts, 60 Hz, American plug; adapter required.
First aid kit
Don‘t forget to bring a small or larger-size first-aid kit (with remedies for diarrhea, mosquito bites, high temperature and pain as well as dressing material and bandages, plasters and desinfectant) so that you are well-prepared for any smaller emergencies. Don‘t forget to take: Any medication that you need to take on a regular basis! If you have any questions on what belongs in your first-aid kit you should consult a chemist who specialises in travel medicine. Take Autan or something similar for mosquito bites. There is a doctor‘s surgery and a 24 hour emergency service on the island.
Clothing During the day
It‘s best to wear summer or sports clothing. You should also bring light long sleeve clothing for the evenings. For summer and autumn please remember protection for rain. Sunglasses are important.
Tips
Restaurants will usually put a 15% service charge onto your bill.

Please be careful! There is left-hand driving in the entire Bahamas!
